The US economy has added 195,000 new jobs in June, according to data released last night. The figure was well above market expectations of just 165,000. The unemployment rate hasn't fallen though . It's stuck at 6 7.6 per cent, rather than falling by point-one of a per cent as analysts¹ had expected, which suggests more people have remained in the labor² market.

 

A total of 115 employees will lose their jobs when the Angas Zinc³ Mine at Strathalbyn, in the Adelaide hills  closes at the end of September. The mine's operator Terramin says the mine will reach the end of its economic life at current metal prices by then. The 400,000 tonne per annum operation was commissioned in 2008 at a cost of 71 million dollars. The company says it has plans to continue exploring under and near the mine.
