I am Carl Azuz. Welcome to CNN student news.We are starting with the story about explosion Wednesday night at a plant inthe town of west. It's located in the Texas. The impact from this explosion was felt up to 50 miles away and in the town itself devastation¹. Thursday,Officials said anywhere from 5 to 15 people may have been killed. More than 160 others were injured. Martin Savidge has more details.

Stunning² video. The west fertilizer plantat the small town of West, Texas about 20 miles from Waco exploding. A blastand massive fire that followed living dozens of homes and building heavily damaged or destroyed. The town's mayor telling CNN what it feels like.

I’ve never seen any explosion like that.It’s just a ball of fire, just went up like a nuclear bomb went off. Big oldmushroom cloud.

The blast was so strong. It registered as magnitude 2.1 earthquake. Half of the town's 2,600 residents were forced to evacuate³.Officials concern about the potentially deadly gas fumes⁴ and a second fertilizer attack that could also explode. People living near the plant fearedfor their lives.

When it exploded, we all just hit it ground and I was trying to cover up our daughter, because there was a lot of debrisflying. And then after that, it was just basically search and rescues.

The smoldering⁵ fire and fumes prevented rescue workers from getting near the plant. Officials say the blast area resembles awar zone.

Authorities say they are not cluing out the idea criminal activity. But they didn't have any evidence yesterday thatindicated anything criminal.

There were some concerns about a substance,though, called anhydrous ammonia. It’s a gas that used to make fertilizer. Thefumes from it can cause irritation⁶ even suffocation⁷. When it mixed with water like water in human body, it can cause severe burns. So officials were worriedabout people being exposed to it. The explosion Wednesday night sent out as hock wave. People who were blocks away were not to the ground. Houses weredestroyed or severely⁸ damaged.

In Boston, the investigators⁹ are workingleads as they try to track down information about this week terrorist attack. Yesterdayafternoon, the FBI identified two suspects, two men who were at the scene ofbombings. You can see them here a white and black baseball caps. Officials releasedthese images partly hopes that public could help identify the suspects. Theyare asking public to go FBI.gov to see the images and provide any tips they have.As the investigation¹⁰ moves forward, many people Boston paused Thursday for refection.And interfaith service at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross honored the victimsof Monday's attack. There was heavy security outside and the number of policeofficers inside too. Police and other correspond were partly of crowd around2,000 people who attended the service. President Obama and first lady MichelleObama were there as well. Later in the day, the President met with first responders volunteers in a local school and first lady visited patients, families andmedical staff nearby hospitals. During yesterday's memorial service, severalspeakers talk about how the city of Boston is coming together in response thistragedy.

A day after two letters that apparently¹² to contain poison arrived in Washington D.C.A man in Mississippi was arrested inconnection with the case. One of the letter was addressed to president Obama.The other was addressed to U.S. senator Roger Wicker who represents Mississippi.Both letters initially¹³ tested positive for Ricin, a deadly poison. But they were intercepted¹⁴ in a location that screens mails for this type of thing.

The man arrested is Paul Kevin Curtis, a45-year old entertainer from Mississippi. He’s also suspected in the mailing ofanother letter to a Mississippi judge. Investigators say all three letters had the same words, in the same font, on the same type of paper. They alsoreportedly contained a quote that Curtis had on his Facebook page.
