United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is voicing outrage1 over an attack against a UN compound in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.
At least 13 people are believed to have been killed in the attack.
"I repeat my outrage again at these despicable terrorist attack against the United Nations and civilian2 people. United Nations will never be deterred3 by these terrible attacks."
The militant4 group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack, calling the UN "a merchant of death."
Ban Ki-Moon is currently on a four day trip in China.
Addressing a different range of issues, Ban said he welcomed North Korea's willingness to engage in talks with the international community.
"Any meaningful dialogue should be anchored in the verifiable denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. This is the foundation and basis of dialogue between South and North. There needs to be meaningful and trustful dialogue."
His comments come a day after foreign ministers from North Korea and China held a meeting in Beijing to try to revive the stalled nuclear disarmament talks.
Their meeting followed Pyongyang's surprise offer on Sunday for direct talks with the US after months of threats that raised the possibility of fresh fighting on the Korean Peninsula.
