11、However, as a popular saying goes, everything has two sides, we should always bear in mind that for foreign cultures, we should discard their dross¹ and select their essence.

【译文】但是，正如俗话所说，“每个亊物都有两面性”， 我们应该时刻记住，对于外国文化，应该取其精华，去其糟粕。

【分析】本句常用于文章结尾，引用谚语，重申主题。As a popular saying goes…句型常用于引用格言、谚语或习语来导出话题、充实论据或完成结语，既言简意赅又有说服力。类似的说法还有：As a proverb goes... ; As somebody put it…；Somebody once said…等。

【译文】只有通过这种方式我们才能从文化大熔炉中充分获益。

【分析】此句为文章结尾处的结论句，对前面所述建议或措施进行总结，提出解决问题的紧迫性和重要性。注意使用该结构时，主谓需倒装，即情态动词置于主语之前，起强调作用。此外，Only in this way也可用Only through these measures 替换。
