 　　When Freedom, from her mountain height, 当自由女神离开高山之巅，

　　Unfurled her standard to the air, 迎风展开她的旗帜，

　　She tore the azure¹ robe of night, 她穿上天蓝色晚礼服，

　　And set the stars of glory there: 连耀眼的群星也黯然失色；

　　She mingled² with its gorgeous dyes the milky³ baldric of the skies, 她那柔软的肩带染上了天空华美的颜色，

　　And striped its pure, celestial⁴ white 用缕缕晨光剥去了，

　　With streakings of the morning light; 它纯粹圣洁的白色；

　　Then, from his mansion⁵ in the sun, 从他阳光明媚的华厦，

　　She called her eagle bearer down, 叫她的鹰飞得低一些，

　　And see the lightning lances driven, 当暴风雨将勇士驱赶

　　When strive the warriors⁹ of the storm, 电光划过云端时，

　　And rolls the thunder drum of heaven;— 天际传来滚滚雷鸣；

　　Child of the sun! to thee 't is given to guard the banner of the free, 这些太阳之子！它让你们守卫自由的旗帜，

　　To hover¹⁰ in the sulphur smoke, 在硫黄的烟雾中盘旋，

　　To ward¹¹ away the battle stroke, 守护战场上的硝烟，

　　And bid its blendings shine afar, 向远处它反射的光辉致意，

　　The harbingers of victory! 胜利的信使！

　　When speaks the signal trumpet tone, 当说到发信号的喇叭声，

　　And the long line comes gleaming on, 一长排一齐吹响，
