From NPR news in Washington, I'm Nora Raum. The State department says the U.S.is astound1 that an Israeli police beat up a 15-year-old American-Palestinian boy. NPR's Jackie Northam reports. The State department spokesperson says Obama administration is deeply concerned about the beating of Tahri Catar. Catar, teenager from Temple Florida, was picked up and demonstrated as clash with police. Later, a video circulating on the Internet showed that an Israeli police attacking a detainee. It then shows Catar emerging from jail with black eyes and swollen2 lips. Spokesperson Psaki says beating a detainee after their subdued3 under custody4 is never justified5. We really shocked that he was severely6 beaten while policing a custody and strongly have condemned7 that I would call for speedy and transparent8 and credible9 investigation10.
