(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
It was just another day in the life of a waitress, as the new customer came in, sat down, and ordered his meal.
One thing about restaurants in America, though, is that food servers2 don’t just bring food, but will also talk to diners about their life, their dreams, and just about anything else. So this time the anonymous3 server1 told the customer that she had an Italian family and had studied art education , but because of her finances4, had never actually been to Italy.
At the end of the meal, the customer got up, went to pay, and said his goodbyes. And the waitress went back to work. But when she got back to the man’s table, she got a huge surprise. Instead of leaving the normal 15-20 percent5 tip6 for the $60 meal, the customer had left her $1,000, along with a note that said, ‘Your ticket to Italy. Enjoy.’’
