(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
Jessica: James?
James: Hi, Jess. Listen, Mr. Fuji has us working on another all-nighter project, so I don't think I'll be able to make it to our date tonight. I'm sorry to have to cancel again.
Jessica: Really? Well, that's OK. I guess I'll just tell my parents you won't be able to meet them tonight either - and call the restaurant to cancel our reservation2.
James: I'm really sorry about this. It's just that Mr. Fuji dropped a bomb on us earlier today and told us we have until tomorrow to finish this project that he was told about only this morning.
Jessica: Well, that's kind of unfair. Doesn't Mr. Fuji understand that his employees3 might have lives of their own?
James: It's company policy that the team has to stick around and then everyone leaves together.
Jessica: He sounds like a slave4 driver to me. I mean, why should you have to stay until the boss is ready to go home?
James: I've never understood why we have to do that either, or why they don't give us more notice for these big projects. But, at least he's not like my last boss.
Jessica: Yeah, you told me about him. He lazed around, enjoying the perks5 of being in charge, and expected you to pick up the slack6.
James: Yeah, exactly. Oh, gotta go. Mr. Fuji wants to see me.
