The fresh call for EU countries to share the burden of asylum¹ seekers came after a photograph of a three-year-old, who was found drowned on a beach in Turkey, led to an international outcry.

Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny says European leaders need to act immediately to minimize the human cost of the crisis. And while we all have our problems and we can talk the politics of any individual country, this is a human catastrophe² and this particular picture may after so many deaths shock people into a sense of who we are and what we should be."
