What skills do parents want their kids to know in America?

美国家长会希望他们孩子学会什么样的生存技能？

We need to learn to build a fire and boil water. At least, where I live. A lot of the skills that we acquire come from simple things like camping and fishing.

我们至少要学会生火和烧水。有许多技能我们是从露营和钓鱼的经验中习得的。

In Australia, there’s every dangerous animal from venomous snakes and spiders to deadly sharks and jellyfish. What about America?

在澳洲有许多危险的动物，有毒的蛇和蜘蛛，致命的大白鲨和水母在那里比比皆是。那美国有什么吗？

America has its fair share of dangerous animals as well. We’ve got the black widow² spider, that’ll kill you. Bears, mountain lions. So many! But keeping smart and knowing what your doing will keep you safe.

在美国，同样有许多危险的动物。像毒性超强的黑寡妇，还有熊和美洲狮之类的大型动物。但如果你足够聪明并且知道一些求生小技能的话，你就会很安全啦。

So what should a person do in an encounter³ with one of these animals?

当人们遇到上述的动物时，该怎么做呢？

If a bear wants to eat you, NEVER RUN! even up a tree! They’re great climbers! Just play dead. If that doesn’t work, go for its eyes.

如果一只熊想要吃了你，千万别跑，也不要爬树！它们都是爬树的老手。装死是最好的选择，如果没用的话，戳它的眼睛。

最近，野外生存类的节目真的很火。连奥马巴都上了一期节目，你喜欢这种类型的节目吗？

There’s only one that I really like. It’s Survivor Man. I love this one because it’s as real as it gets.

1 survivor
