keep after 表示紧紧追赶

keep aloof² 避开，不参与

keep away from 远离

她虽然病得很重,但仍然继续工作。

Many people nowadays keep babysitter about the house.

很多年轻的父母都会雇佣这个保姆阿姨在家照顾自己的孩子

We must keep abreast of the times.

我们必须跟上时代前进的步伐。

The police kept after the criminal until they seized him.

警察紧紧追赶罪犯,直到把他抓住。

She held herself aloof from the others.

表示这个人会刻意的和其他人疏远。

Keep away from bad companions.

要远离一些坏人

adv.并排地；跟上(时代)的步伐，与…并进地

参考例句：

• She kept abreast with the flood of communications that had poured in.她及时回复如雪片般飞来的大批信件。
• We can't keep abreast of the developing situation unless we study harder.我们如果不加强学习，就会跟不上形势。

2 aloof   

adj.远离的；冷淡的，漠不关心的

参考例句：

• Never stand aloof from the masses.千万不可脱离群众。
• On the evening the girl kept herself timidly aloof from the crowd.这小女孩在晚会上一直胆怯地远离人群。
