scrunch 压迫,挤压, 捏成一团,揉成一团.

scraps 是"不可吃的残羹剩饭",而 leftovers³ 则是"可以再吃的剩菜".

78. I wonder if there are any alumni of my school at this company.

不知道这家公司里有没有我们学校的校友.

alumni 是 alumnus 的复数形式,是指"毕业生,校友". 女子大专的毕业生其复数

形式为alunma. "同学会"是 alumni association; "同学的聚会,聚餐"则称为

alumni metting. wonder if...从功能上讲相当于疑问句,所以句中使用any.

79. I guess the whole world runs on connections.

我想全世界还是靠人际关系运作的啦.

run on 是"用...运转/开动",如 This toy runs on batteries.
