The eight Strategic and Economic Dialogue kicks off in Beijing today (Monday), and senior Chinese and US officials gather to discuss a wide range of economic issues -- from macroeconomic policies to industrial overcapacity and trade disputes.
Experts say the priority of the dialogue's economic track will include the US concerns about the Chinese yuan's exchange rate and China' s economic growth.
Talks on a bilateral investment treaty will also certainly be high on the agenda, as BIT negotiations have been considered most important between China and the US.
Visiting US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew mentioned on Sunday that the US is waiting for China to present a negative list and is expecting constructive outcomes from the BIT negotiations.
He said, "I think that the remaining months of this administration are really very good time to double down and try, and make progress and get it, if not across the finish line, closer to the finish line, where if the BIT is in a well-developed place, it’s much more likely to go forward."
