The US has joined the growing list of countries to ground Boeing's 737 Max jet, in the wake of the Ethiopian Airlines disaster which killed 157 people. The grounding ordered by US president Donald Trump¹ comes after days of resistance from UA safety administrator². A few hours earlier, Canada joined nations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia in closing its airspace to the 737 Max.

An Australian woman, who joined the Islamic State terror group, has made a plea to come back home. The woman, who would not give her name, is believed to be Melbourne woman Zehra Duman who fled the is stronghold of Baghouz last month. She's now living in a refugee camp in Syria with her two young children. She says her six month old daughter is malnourished and needs treatment in hospital — and says she wants to do all she can for her children.

In Brazil, six children have been killed in a school shooting in Sao Paulo. Authorities say two hooded⁴ teenagers opened fire at the primary school, killing⁵ the students and two school administrators⁶. The gunmen then killed themselves.
