 　　"Usually I just have time to read" a couple of stories," a few of the stories. “我一般只有看几个故事的时间，”

　　"When I've finished my cereal¹, I grab² a banana and maybe make a slice of toast with jam." “吃完麦片后，我掰一根香蕉，还可能会做一片果酱吐司。”

　　To grab, "grab," means to take something, usually with your hand. 掰（grab），意思是拿着某物，一般是用手。

　　To grab something with your hand means to pick it up—to take it with your hand. 用手掰某物意思是你抓着它——用手拿着它。

　　"I grab a banana," which I like to eat, and "a slice of toast with jam." “我掰一根香蕉，”我喜欢吃它，以及“一片果酱吐司。”

　　Toast, "toast," is bread that you put in something called a toaster, "toaster,"  吐司（toast），是你放进吐司机（toaster）里的面包，

　　and the toaster heats up the bread until the bread is brown on the outside. 这个吐司机会加热这面包直至其表面变成棕色。

　　A slice of toast, "slice," is a piece of toast. 一片（slice）吐司，就是一块吐司。

　　We use the words slice when we are talking about one piece of bread, or one piece of cake. 我们在说到一块面包或一块蛋糕的时候用“slice”这个字。

　　You can have a slice of cake; you can also have a slice of pie. 你可以有一块蛋糕；也可以有一块馅饼。

　　This is a slice of toast, which is bread that we put in a toaster, and we toast the bread. 这是一片吐司，它就是我们放在吐司炉里的面包，我们烤这个面包。

　　We can use toast as a verb as well. “Toast”也可以用作动词。

　　And, after I toast the bread, I can put butter on it or I can put jam, "jam." 而且，烤完面包后，我会在它的上面涂上黄油或果酱（jam）。
