 　　A memo¹, "memo," is short for memorandum²,  备忘录（memo），是“memorandum”的缩写，

　　and it is usually like a letter that you send to someone in your company - in your office. 它通常就像是你寄给你公司某个人的信件。

　　Your inbox, "inbox," can be a little box on your desk where people put things for you to do, your boss, for example. 你的收件箱（inbox），可能是放在你桌子上的小箱子，是人们交代事情让你去做的地方，比方说你老板。

　　And, when you are done with them, you can put them in your outbox. 当你做完了它们的时候，你可以把它们放进你的发件箱里。

　　Those terms, inbox and outbox, are also used for email programs now. 收件箱和发件箱这两个术语也用在如今的电子邮件程序当中。

　　"When I turn on my computer, I" have "at least two-dozen emails I need to go through." “当我打开电脑的时候，我看到至少有二十四条需要我浏览的邮件。”

　　The expression, to go through, here means I have to read them and maybe respond to them. 短语“To go through”，在这里的意思是我得阅读它们，或许还要对其进行回复。

　　Someone may say, "I have to go through my email,"  有人可能会说，“I have to go through my email”，

　　they mean I have to read my email, and I have to respond, sometimes, to my email. 他们的意思是“我得阅读我的邮件，并且有时我还得对其进行回复”。

　　I have to do that everyday, just like you do, but most of my emails come from you. 和你一样，我每天都得做那件事，而我的大部分邮件却都是你发过来的。

　　"Just as I start in on the email, my phone rings." “正当我开始看邮件的时候，我的电话铃响了”。

　　The expression "to start in on" something means to begin to do something. 短语“to start in on something”是开始做某事的意思。

　　So, I start in on my phone calls, that means that I have many phone calls and I start making them — I begin making them. 因此，“I start in on my phone calls”，的意思是我有很多电话要打，我开始拨打它们。
