Stocks closed sharply lower on Wall Street Monday as technology companies took heavy losses and investors¹ worried about escalating² trade tensions with China. The United States imposed tax on Chinese steel and aluminum³. Then China counterpunched with tariffs⁴ on a host of U.S. product including apples, pork and ginseng.

Comedian⁵ Bill Cosby was back in a Pennsylvania courtroom for the first day of jury selection in his retrial on sexual assault charges. The 80-year-old Cosby is charged with drugging and molesting⁶ a former Temple University athletics⁷ administrator⁸ at his home in 2004.

South African anti-apartheid campaigner Winnie Mandela has died. The 81-year-old is also the ex-wife of Nelson Mandela. And despite shadows of criminal convictions and scandal later in her life, many South Africans consider her the "mother of the nation".

With overcast⁹ skies and temperatures in the 40's, President Trump¹⁰ declared it perfect weather for the annual White House Easter egg roll. Nearly 30,000 parents and children were expected to participate in the all-day event.
