 　　But just when Tim had his hands full of the bright marsh-marigolds, he hurt his foot on a sharp stone. 但就在蒂姆双手拿着金灿灿的沼泽金盏花的时候，他的脚被一块锋利的石头弄伤了。

　　Then a fat, green frog jumped so close to his face that it frightened him, and he fell into the water. 接着一只又胖又绿的青蛙跳到了他的面前，吓了他一跳，导致他掉进了水里。

　　Poor Tim got up, wet and muddy¹, and hurried out of the swamp². 可怜的蒂姆站起来，身上沾满了泥水，他匆匆地离开了沼泽。

　　After cleaning himself as well as he could with his little handkerchief, he went on to school. 他用自己的小手帕尽可能地给自己清理了一下，然后就去学校了。

　　When the little boy reached the school, he quietly opened the door. 小男孩到了学校，悄悄地推开了门。

　　As soon as they saw Tim, all of them began to laugh. 他们一看到蒂姆就都笑了起来。

　　And no wonder! There on the floor, just where Tim would have stood, were the fairy shoes! 别奇怪！神奇的鞋子就在蒂姆该站的地方！

　　In each of them was a beautiful marsh-marigold. 两只鞋子里都各有一朵漂亮的沼泽金盏花。

　　You have been in the swamp, Timothy, said the teacher. "Put on your shoes at once." “蒂莫西。你去了沼泽吧。”老师说，“马上把鞋子穿上。”

　　When his lessons were over, Tim was glad enough to let the fairy shoes take him straight home. 下课了，蒂姆很高兴地让神奇的鞋子带着他径直回家。

　　After that he did just as the little shoes wanted him to do and soon learned⁴ to obey as quickly as his brothers. 自那之后，他便认真去做这双小鞋子想让他做的事情了，并跟他的哥哥们一样，很快就变乖了。
