 A Thanksgiving Fable¹ 感恩节童话

It was a hungry pussy² cat upon Thanksgiving morn, 一只饥饿的小猫咪，在感恩节的早上，

And she watched a thankful little mouse 看到一只感恩的小老鼠，

That ate an ear of corn. 他正在啃一个玉米。

If I ate that thankful little mouse 我要是吃了那只感恩的小老鼠

How thankful he should be, 他会多么感恩，

When he has made a meal himself, 因为在他自己吃饭的时候，

To make a meal for me! 也为我准备了顿饭!

Then with his thanks for having fed, 他感谢喂饱了自己，

And his thanks for feeding me, 他也感谢喂饱了我，

With all his thankfulness inside, 有了他内心的感谢之情

How thankful I shall be! 我也变得感恩起来！

So said the hungry pussy cat, 在感恩节的那天，

Upon Thanksgiving Day; 饥饿的小猫这样说着。

But the little mouse had overheard 但是小老鼠听到了，

And declined (with thanks) to stay. 他带着感恩之心离开了
