　　This is why adulthood¹, when we first say we "long for love", what we predominantly mean is that we want to be loved as we are once loved by a parent. We want a recreation in adulthood of what it felt like to be administered to and indulged. In a secret part of our minds, we picture someone who will understand our needs, bring us what we want, to be immensely patient and sympathetic to us, act selflessly, and make it all better.

　　这是为什么在成年时，当我们第一次说我们“渴望爱”，其实我们主要指的是：我们想要“被爱”--如同儿时曾被父母那样地爱着。即使长大成人，我们还是想要再次感受像被父母照顾与宠溺的爱。在内心隐密深处，我们想象着有个人会了解我们的需求、带给我们所想要的、对我们有着无比的耐心且支持着我们、愿意无私的对待而让一切都更好！
