The opposite wall of this entry was hung all over with a heathenish array of monstrous⁷ clubs and spears.  进口处对面的墙上,挂满着一大排具有异教色彩的。怪异的棍棒和枪矛。

Some were thickly set with glittering teeth resembling ivory saws;  有的还密镶有象牙锯似的闪亮的牙齿;

others were tufted with knots of human hair; and one was sickle-shaped, with a vast handle sweeping⁸ round like the segment made in the new-mown grass by a long-armed mower⁹.  有些却饰着一簇簇的人发;有一支是镰刀形的.装有一支大柄子,直象是一架长臂刈草机疾扫过后,在新刈过的草地上所留下来的弓形痕迹。

You shuddered¹⁰ as you gazed, and wondered what monstrous cannibal and savage¹¹ could ever have gone a death-harvesting with such a hacking¹², horrifying¹³ implement¹⁴.  你一边看,一边不禁直打寒颤,不知道是什么怪异的食人生番和野人才会用这样一种劈斧似的。

1 aggregated
