 Aye, aye! shouted the harpooneers and seamen¹, running closer to the excited old man: A sharp eye for the White Whale; a sharp lance for Moby Dick! 是呀,是呀!标枪手和水手们都齐声高叫,朝这个激动的老人更走拢些:仔细留心那白鲸,鱼枪瞄准莫比－迪克!

God bless ye, he seemed to half sob² and half shout. God bless ye, men. Steward³! go draw the great measure of grog. But what's this long face about, Mr. Starbuck; wilt⁴ thou not chase the white whale! art not game for Moby Dick? 愿上帝降福你们,他好象是在半呜咽,半叫嚷了。愿上帝降福你们,朋友们。茶房!去拿大量的酒来。但是,为什么要搭拉着脸呀,斯达巴克先生;难道你不愿意追捕那条白鲸么?不高兴捉莫比－迪克吗?

I am game for his crooked⁵ jaw⁶, and for the jaws⁷ of Death too, Captain Ahab, if it fairly comes in the way of the business we follow; but I came here to hunt whales, not my commander's vengeance⁸.  我是高兴打它那钩嘴,也高兴打那死神的嘴的,亚哈船长,如果这是在我们这次航行中顺便碰到的话;不过,我是到这里来捕鲸的,不是来为我的上司报仇的。

If money's to be the measurer, man, and the accountants have computed¹⁰ their great counting-house the globe, by girdling it with guineas, one to every three parts of an inch; then, let me tell thee, that my vengeance will fetch a great premium¹¹ here! 如果钱是一样度量器,朋友,而天下的账房先生可以拿许多几尼把这个大账房即地球给围起来,用一个几尼算做四分之三英寸来计算这个大帐房即地球的大小的话,那么,我不妨告诉你,我这个仇恨却不知道要比它大多少倍咧!

He smites¹² his chest, whispered Stubb, what's that for? methinks it rings most vast, but hollow. 他在捶打自己的胸啦,斯塔布悄悄地说,那又为的什么呢?我可认为那捶打的声音大虽大,却很空泛。

Madness! To be enraged¹⁵ with a dumb thing, Captain Ahab, seems blasphemous¹⁶. 发疯!去跟一条哑物赌气,亚哈船长,这似乎是亵渎神明了。
