　　On a cold winter day a poor little robin once came to a window.  在一天寒冷的冬天，一直可怜的小小知更鸟来到了窗前。

　　Some children who saw it, opened the window very gently, and the robin came hopping² into the room.  我的孩子们发现了它，轻轻的打开了门，这只知更鸟跳进了房间。

　　The children fed it with crumbs³, and then let it fly away again.  孩子们用面包屑喂他，让后让他再次离开。

　　During the winter it came back several times to its little friends; but when the warm weather came, it flew away to the woods. 在这整个冬天，他数次来到他的小伙伴身边；但当天气变得暖和，他就飞向了树林。

　　Welcome, little Robin 欢迎，小小知更鸟

　　With the scarlet⁴ breast! 有着深红的胸！

　　In this winter weather 在这个冬季

　　Cold must be your nest. 寒冷必将是你的鸟巢.

　　Hopping o'er the carpet, 跃过地毯，

　　Picking up the crumbs, 拾起面包屑，

　　Robin knows the children 知更鸟知道孩子们

　　Love him when he comes. 喜欢他的到来。

　　Is the story true, Robin, 这是真实的故事吗，知更鸟，

　　You were once so good 你曾如此的美好

　　To the little orphans⁵ sleeping in the wood? 对于睡在树林的孤儿们而言？

　　Did you see them lying, 你看见躺着的，

　　Pale, and cold, and still, 苍白的，冷的发抖的他们，一如既往

　　And strew⁶ leaves above them 你从他们头上撒下叶子

　　With your little bill? 和你的小小账单？

　　Whether true or not, Robin, 不管是否真实，知更鸟，

1 robin

7 blessings
