 　　LESSON 13 Good night and good morning 第十三课  早上好，晚上好

　　A fair little girl sat under a tree, 一个漂亮的小女孩坐在树底下，

　　Sewing as long as her eyes could see; 一直缝制东西到天晚眼睛看不到为止，

　　Then smoothed her work, and folded it right, 然后抚摸着她的成品，把它折叠好，

　　And said, Dear work, Good Night! Good Night! 说道，“亲爱的作品，晚安，晚安！”

　　Such a number of rooks came over her head, 一些白嘴鸭出现在她的脑海里，

　　Crying, Caw! Caw! on their way to bed; 在入睡的路上喊叫着，“呱！呱！”

　　She said, as she watched their flight, 当她看到这些白嘴鸭稀奇古怪的飞行时说道，

　　Little black things, Good Night! Good Night! “小东西，晚安！晚安！”

　　The horses neighed, and the oxen lowed; 马儿嘶叫，牛儿哞哞

　　The sheep's Bleat¹! Bleat! came over the road; 路上走过来的羊群咩咩叫，

　　All seeming to say with a quiet delight, 所有的一切看起来都像在很开心的说，

　　Good little girl, Good Night! Good Night! 小女孩，晚安，晚安。

　　She did not say to the sun, Good Night! 她没有对太阳说晚安，

　　Though she saw him there, like a ball of light! 尽管她看到太阳就在那儿，像一个发光的大球！

　　For she knew he had God's time to keep 因为她知道太阳有神圣的使命

　　All over the world, and never could sleep. 遍及世界，从不休息。

　　The tall pink foxglove bent² his head— 高高的粉色的毛地黄低下了头颅

　　The violets³ bowed and went to bed; 紫罗兰也低头谢幕要去睡觉，

　　And good little Lucy tied up her hair, 小Lucy扎起了头发，

　　And said, on her knees, her favourite prayer. 跪了下来，说着最喜欢的祷告。

　　And while on her pillow she softly⁴ lay, 枕着枕头她躺下了，

　　She knew nothing more till again it was day; 睡着了直到白天的到来

　　And all things said to the beautiful sun, 对美丽的太阳你所要说的全部就是

　　Good Morning! Good Morning! our work is begun! 早安，早安，开始劳作了。”

1 bleat
