　　What is an army? 什么是军队？

　　An army is a group of people who are ready to fight. 军队是一群准备战斗的人。

　　Why do they fight? 他们为什么战斗？

　　They fight to gain¹ something or to protect themselves. 他们为获得某种东西或保护自己而战斗。

　　People in army are called soldiers. 军队里的人称为士兵。

　　Some soldiers are in an army to earn money. 有些士兵参军是为了赚钱。

　　Some soldiers want to protect their family and friends. 有些士兵是想保护他们的家人和朋友。

　　Does every soldier fight? 每个士兵都战斗吗？

　　No. Some soldiers take care of other soldiers. 不是。有些士兵照顾其他士兵。

　　They cook, wash clothes or care for other soldiers. 他们做饭，洗衣服，照顾其他士兵。

　　Most countries have their own armies. 大多数国家都有自己的军队。

　　If a country does not have an army, the United² Nations³ army sometimes help that country. 如果一个国家没有军队，联合国的军队有时会帮助这个国家。
