Christopher Cross（克里斯多夫•克罗斯）的名字大家可能不太熟悉，但是说起在90年代初曾经流行一时的"Sailing（航行）＂，大多数对流行音乐保持关注的朋友多半都能想起来这位声音柔细飘扬的歌手。专辑《航行》还让他获得了第23届（1980年）年度Grammy音乐奖的年度单曲、年度最佳歌曲、年度最佳专辑和最佳新人这四项大奖。

在1980年颁发的第23届葛莱美奖上大放异彩一连囊括最受瞩目的『年度唱片』、『年度专辑』、『年度歌曲』、『年度新人』等四项大奖再加上『最佳演唱编曲』奖，记录至今无人能出其右者，他的名字就是克里斯多夫．克罗斯。克罗斯1951年出生於德州，1973年组团，後来到洛杉矶打天下，1980年发行首张同名专辑叫好又叫座，在榜上待了两年多，至今销售五白金。其中共出现四首单曲∶包括得奖的Sailing（冠军曲），另外是他的首支单曲Ride Like The Wind（亚军曲）和两首前20名排行曲Never Be The Same、Say You'll Be Mine。由於声势如日中天，杜德利．摩尔、丽莎．明妮莉主演的浪漫喜剧【二八佳人花公子】主题曲Arthur's Theme也交由克罗斯演唱，结果为他添得一座奥斯卡『最佳电影歌曲』奖。1983年第二张专辑「Another Page」推出，All Right、Think Of Laura、No Time For Talk是其中单曲。1985年与1988年都分别推出「Every Turn Of The World」及「Back Of My Mind」，不过克罗斯已逐渐退出美国流行市场，同时也更换唱片公司。到2000年为止他一共发行有八张专辑，在日本、德国反而比家乡更为走红。

克里斯多夫．克罗斯在1993年已经出过精选，不过旧版精选只有12首歌曲，除Arthur's Theme之外其他都选自上述华纳时期的四张专辑。2001年最新的精选集在选曲上更为精彩，除畅销曲之外加收平时绝少机会听到的歌曲∶A Chance²⁰ For Heaven是1984年洛杉矶奥运游泳项目的主题曲；Loving Strangers²¹是汤姆．汉克1986年主演的【Nothing In Common】电影插曲；I Will (Take You Forever)原收录「Back Of My Mind」专辑中，新的混音版是与Frances Ruffelle的对唱，音乐剧【悲惨世界】是Ruffelle最出名的作品；另外两首由曾经帮雪儿的Strong Enough操刀的录音师Pumpin' Dolls重新混音的两首精典曲All Right和Ride Like The Wind则加时下流行的电子节奏。19首歌曲由克里斯多夫．克罗斯细腻的高音唱出，温柔的征服每位乐迷。
