China’s first National Cyber Security Awareness¹ week kicked off in Beijing. Liu Yunshan, a member of the Politburo Standing² Committee of the CPC Central Committee and a top official on internet security attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Liu emphasized the need to raise public awareness on cyber security, and putting greater effort to promote the rule of law online. He also noted³ that China should actively⁴ participate in international dialogue and cooperation on cyber security and take measures to resolve outstanding issues. These efforts, he added, would help establish a transparent⁵, multi-lateral system on internet governance.
