　　Fate brings people together no matter how far apart they maybe: 有缘千里来相会

　　On that fateful day, you walked into my life: 命运的安排，那一天你走入了我的生活

　　On that fateful day, I received a special phone call: 命运的安排，我收到了一个特别的电话

　　＊Fate这个词，可以用来形容友情、爱情、际遇等各种范畴＊

　　Destiny (名词): 命运、缘分

　　Destined¹ (形容词)

　　Destiny和fate的意思很像。但是用法上有些区别：

　　My fate is in your hands: 我的命运掌握在你手上 （判决、审判）

　　You're my destiny: 你是我命中注定的人 （浪漫）

　　This is my destiny: 这注定是我的命运 （人生、事业）

　　＃3.Serendipity²

　　Serendipity (名词): 缘分，很多偶然、偶遇组成的缘分

　　Serendipitous³ (形容词)

　　这两个词有点难读。大家仔细听Adam读几遍：

　　Serendipitous: /s?r?n'd?p?t?s/

　　Serendipity这个词更强调偶然性：

　　If you keep running into the same person in different places: 如果你一直在不同地方巧遇一个人，可以说：

　　这个用法不局限于浪漫的偶遇。

　　Serendipity was also the name of a romantic comedy: 多年前的一部浪漫喜剧，就叫“缘分天注定”

　　It's also the name of a diner in New York famous for its ice cream sundae and banana split: 纽约有一家著名的小餐馆也叫Serendipity，冰淇淋圣代和香蕉船特别有名

　　The most common and natural expression is: 最常用、最自然的表达方法是

　　但也可以用更抽象、浪漫的说法：

　　#4.Stars and the universe

　　英语也常用到宇宙、天象来描述缘分：

　　It was in the stars/it was written in the stars: 有缘、上天的安排

　　When the stars are lined up/when the stars align⁴: 同上

　　The universe is trying to tell you something: 宇宙在给你释放信息

　　这个来自佛教的词也在英语里广泛使用：

　　还有一个更直观的表达：

　　What goes around comes around

　　不同场景的缘分

　　Love: 爱人间的缘分

　　We're destined to be together: 命中注定我们要在一起

　　It's fate: 这是命运的安排

　　Friendship: 朋友间的缘分

　　朋友间的缘份，不太用到上述说的fate, destiny这些词；

　　而是非常口语的：

　　We really clicked: 我们特别有缘、一见如故

　　We hit it off right away: 同上

　　We became quick friends: 同上

　　Things: 和东西、物件的缘分

　　我们平时买东西，大到房子，小到手表，好像也爱用缘分表达。英语可以说：

　　It's meant to be/it's meant for me：是你的总是你的

1 destined   

adj.命中注定的；(for)以…为目的地的

• It was destined that they would marry.他们结婚是缘分。
• The shipment is destined for America.这批货物将运往美国。

2 serendipity   

n.偶然发现物品之才能；意外新发现

参考例句：

3 serendipitous   

adj.偶然发现的

4 align   

vt.使成一线，结盟，调节；vi.成一线，结盟
