Writers of every age have endeavored to show that pleasure is in us, and not in the objects offered for our amusement.

3 deformed

4 toil   

vi.辛劳工作，艰难地行动；n.苦工，难事

5 condemned   

adj. 被责难的, 被宣告有罪的 动词condemn的过去式和过去分词

6 garrison
