Witnesses say they first heard gunfire inside this Kroger grocery store in Jefferson town, Kentucky. Then I heard boom, boom, boom. There was glass and you could hear the screaming going on outside the door. Police say the suspect shot and killed one man inside the store, then ran into the parking lot where he shot a woman, who also died. At the kroger store. It appears somebody has been shot, and is down on the lot.

I looked at her and it was like: Look, fella, she's gone. I mean there is, there's nothing I can do. At one point, police say the suspect encountered an armed citizen. The citizen engaged the suspect with additional gunfire back and forth¹ out here in the parking lot. That gunfire resulted in no injuries. Eventually, the gunman was arrested, but tonight his motive² is unclear.
