The photographer behind the lens when this controversial photo was taken says the picture has been taken out of context. I go get your hands up and you're gonna wave and you're waving goodbye to your parents. Peter Gus says he snapped the photo last spring before Baraboo High School's junior prom. The images sparked outrage¹ from those who say the students appear to be performing a Nazi² salute³.

Gus, a retired⁴ teacher is adamant⁵ that was not his intention. It's not an idea that came across my mind at all that there was any kind of Nazi sign. With the district now investigating, a group gathered in front of the courthouse where the photo was taken to create a new image using their hands to form hearts.
