overdo² it 意思是过分了，过头了

e.g. The doctor said I could play tennis if I didn’t overdo it.

side with someone ：偏向谁
e.g. <1>The mayor decided³ to side with the workers in the strike.
在这次罢工潮中，市长决定偏向工人这边。

1 overdid   

v.做得过分( overdo的过去式 )；太夸张；把…煮得太久；（工作等）过度
