We know it's hard because wheels aren't really seen as exciting technology, even though they are the original.

Technology is a glittering lure¹

but there's the rare occasion when the public can be engaged on the level beyond flash.

"Nostalgia³" literally⁴ means the pain from an old wound.

It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone.

This device isn't a space ship. It's a time machine.

3 nostalgia   

n.怀乡病，留恋过去，怀旧

参考例句：

• I was filled with nostalgia by hearing my favourite old song.我听到这首喜爱的旧歌，心中充满了怀旧之情。

4 literally   

adv.照字面意义，逐字地；确实

参考例句：

• He translated the passage literally.他逐字逐句地翻译这段文字。
• Sometimes she would not sit down till she was literally faint.有时候，她不走到真正要昏厥了，决不肯坐下来。

5 backwards   

adv.往回地，向原处，倒，相反，前后倒置地

参考例句：

• He turned on the light and began to pace backwards and forwards.他打开电灯并开始走来走去。
• All the girls fell over backwards to get the party ready.姑娘们迫不及待地为聚会做准备。

6 carousel   

n.旋转式行李输送带

参考例句：

• Riding on a carousel makes you feel dizzy.乘旋转木马使你头晕。
