UK / England / Britain

The UK means the United Kingdom, which is comprised of 4 different countries, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The UK 指的是大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国，它由四个国家组成，英格兰，威尔士，苏格兰和北爱尔兰。

While Britain means the same the thing as the UK, with the exclusion¹ of Northern Ireland.

而Britain指的是不列颠（包括英格兰、苏格兰及威尔士），不包括北爱尔兰。

England means the Country of England itself.

England指的就是英格兰。

English / British / Briton

English can either mean someone from England or the English language.

English这个词可以表示来自England的人，也可以表示英文这种语言。

While British refers to people from the main Island of the UK.

British指的是来自Britain的人。

British也可以用做形容词：

British people / the British 所有Britain的人

British English 英式英文

A Briton means someone from mainland England, Wales or Scotland.

A Briton表示一个来自Britain的人。

America / US / the States / USA/ the United States of America

Much easier than England, they all mean the United States of American. Lol

比英国一堆容易多了，这些短语都是美国的意思。哈哈。

While some may be used more colloquially², others are used in a more professional manner.

不过呢，有的词在口语当中使用更多，有的会在更加专业更加正式的情况下使用。

注意：

这其中，America / the States / US 相对在口语中使用较多；USA / the United States of America 通常在非常正式的场合才会用到。

比如，介绍自己的时候：

不会讲：I'm from the USA.

通常讲：I'm from the States / America.

US在新闻报刊杂志中使用较多，比如：

The US president 美国总统

the latest US news 最新美国新闻

Chinese

Chinese 通常做形容词用（再讲一遍哈哈）

Chinese medicine 中药

the Chinese 所有华人，中国人

I'm a Chinese. (X)

French

French 通常用作形容词用

He is a French. (X)

He is a French man. (O)
