Police in Hobart have called on motorists to stay out of the centre of the city as emergency crews battle the aftermath of an overnight deluge¹. About 140 millimetres of rain has fallen in Hobart since nine o'clock Thursday morning. A number of cars were swept away in flash flooding in the centre of the city last night.
