Emergency warnings remain in place for multiple blazes burning in central Tasmania. The communities of Barren Tier, Tods Corner, Penstock Lagoon¹, Miena, Shannon and Liawenee are being warned that fires will threaten homes. Residents have been told that smoke and ash will also make it difficult to see and breathe. More than 10-thousand hectares have been burnt and firefighters are hoping today's milder conditions will help them get the upper hand ahead of more hot weather on Friday.
