An emergency warning is in place for the Drake fire near Tenterfield in New South Wales as firefighters struggle with worsening conditions in the state's north. The fire is burning in bushland in the vicinity of Drake, Tabulam and the Bruxner highway. The highway is now closed in both directions between Drake and Sandy Hill. The Rural Fire Service says residents in the fire path north east of Drake have been told it's too late to leave.

The Energy Minister is playing down the risks from the drone attacks on two Saudi oil facilities, saying there's no immediate¹ threat to Australia's fuel supplies.
