 　　Good-morning! said the princess, walking into the room. "What are you doing?"  早上好！公主说着走进了屋里。您在做什么？

　　I am spinning, answered the old woman. 我在纺线，老妇人回答道。

　　What fun it is to see the wheel going round so merrily! said the young girl. "Please let me spin a little while." 看到这架纺车那么欢快地转着，真有趣！小姑娘说，请让我也纺一会儿吧。

　　But hardly had she given the wheel one turn, when the words of the wicked¹ fairy came true. 但是她还没来得及让纺车转上一圈，那个邪恶的仙女的话就应验了。

　　The beautiful princess pricked² her finger on the spindle, and at that very same moment fell back upon a bed that stood near. 这位美丽的公主的手被纺锤扎了下，与此同时，她躺在了旁边的一张床上。

　　There she lay in a deep sleep. 她在那儿陷入了沉睡之中。

　　And this sleep fell upon all in the castle. 城堡里的一切也都陷入沉睡之中。

　　The king and queen, who had just come home, fell asleep. 国王和王后刚回到家里就睡着了。

　　The servants fell into the same deep sleep. 仆人也同样陷入了沉睡。

　　The horses and cows in the stables went to sleep; 马厩里面的马和母牛睡着了，

　　the birds upon the roof of the castle put their heads under their wings; and every fly upon the walls stopped buzzing³. 城堡屋顶上的鸟儿把头垂到了翅膀的下面，墙上的苍蝇也不再嗡嗡作响了。

　　Even the fire that was burning in the fireplace⁴ became quiet, and slept. 其至连壁炉里燃烧的火焰也安静了下来，睡着了。

　　The meat stopped roasting. 烤肉也停了下来。

　　The cook, who was just about to scold the kitchen boy, because he had forgotten an errand⁵, suddenly fell asleep. 厨师正想去责备厨房里忘了干活的男孩，自己却突然睡着了。

　　The wind stopped blowing in the great trees around the castle, and not a leaf on them moved again. 风吹到城堡周围的森林就停了下来，大树上面的叶子也不动了

　　Then round about the castle there began to grow a hedge⁶ of trees, which became higher every year. 接着，城堡的周围长出了一排大树，它们长得一年高过一年。

　　At last nothing could be seen of the castle, not even the flag on top of it. 最终遮挡住了城堡里的一切，就连最上面的旗子也看不到了。

1 wicked   

adj.邪恶的，恶劣的，缺德的；淘气的
