 President Obama is praising a senate agreement passed this morning to extend the social security payroll¹ tax cut into the new year.As NPR S.H reports the short term agreement merely sets the stage from another tax showdown in early 2012.The tax cut approved by the senate is not as big as the one the president asked for and it lasted for just two month.Still,Mr Obama says that's better than the alternative.A tax increased for 160000 working Americans if the senate have refused to act.I wanna thank them for ensuring as we head into the holiday folks at home, don't have to worry about the tax is going up.Mr Obama says he expects lawmakers will eventually ok a tax cut for the full year.The senate bill also requires the administration to give expedited review to a controversial oil pipe plan,something the white house hopes to put off until after next year election.S.H,NPR news,the white house.

 

A typhoon struck the southern Philippines last night,triggering flash flood and landslides².Official says at last 400 people were killed.They worried that figure is likely to rise because more people are missing.Entire village were swept into the sea while people were sleeping.Thousands of people have been forced from their homes.Rescue efforts are being hampered³ by flooded roads and a lack of electricity.

Russians are demonstrating again this weekend.They are claiming fraud in the parliamental elections held eariler this month.The turnout in Moscow is much smaller this week with protestors numbering in a hundredth followed by tens of thousands.They are calling for a new election,citing reports from local and international observers of irregularities and outright⁷ fraud.
