　　But, at some distance, Moby Dick rose again, with some tatters of Radney's red woollen shirt, caught in the teeth that had destroyed him. 可是，在不远的地方，莫比－迪克又朝上一冒，嘴里咬着拉德尼那件被撕毁了的红毛衬衫的破布条，说明拉德尼已经完蛋了。

　　All four boats gave chase again; but the whale eluded⁴ them, and finally wholly disappeared. 四只小艇又去追击，可是大鲸已经逃脱，终于完全不见踪影了。

　　In good time, the Town-Ho reached her port--a savage⁵, solitary⁶ place--where no civilized⁷ creature resided. ‘大鲸出来了号’，总算及时到达了它的港埠——一个蛮荒偏僻的地方——那里一个文明人都没有。

　　There, headed by the Lakeman, all but five or six of the foremastmen deliberately⁸ deserted⁹ among the palms;  到了那里，除了五六个前桅的瞭望者以外，全都跟湖上人开小差，从容地跑到棕榈树丛去了；
