A former girlfriend of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been charged after being arrested by the FBI. 58-year-old Ghislaine Maxwell is accused of helping⁴ to lure⁵ underage girls, who were then sexually abused by her and Epstein. Maxwell has previously⁶ denied any involvement. Prince Andrew is said to have introduced Ms Maxwell to Epstien in 1999.

The ABC is standing⁷ behind investigative reporter Dan Oakes after the federal police asked prosecutors⁸ to consider charging the journalist. Police raided the ABC's Sydney offices last year over a series of articles which revealed misconduct allegations about Australian special forces in Afghanistan. ABC managing director David Anderson says the AFP is referring allegations against journalist Dan Oakes to the commonwealth⁹ director of public prosecutions¹⁰. He's described the move as "disappointing and disturbing."
