Temple Fairs became especially popular during the Qing Dynasty.

庙会在清朝尤其盛行

In Beijing, there are four cosmological temples which occupy the four points of the compass.

北京有四大祭祀坛庙，分别位于紫禁城的四个方向

We have the Sun in the East, Heaven in the south, the Moon in the West,

东边有日坛，南边有天坛，西边是月坛

and here, we have the Temple of Earth in the North.

At the Temple of Earth, every New Year the emperor would come to worship the God of Earth.
