 Food, dish, cuisine¹的区别：

1、Cuisine 菜系，烹调方法

在口语中，相较food和dish，cuisine的使用频率低一些。

A style/method of cooking. Food from a particular culture or region. More formal.
指某种烹调方式；某个文化或地区的食物。比较正式。

例句一：
The best French cuisine I've ever had was actually in Italy.
我吃过最好的法国菜竟然是在意大利。

例句二：
Their cuisine has a lot of seafood².
他们的菜系里有很多海鲜。

2、Food 食物，某种食物

在口语中，food使用频率很高。

Anything that can be eaten. Also used to refer to a specific type of food.
食物，也可以指某种类型的食物。

当Food指“食物”：

· What do you want to do for food?
你想吃什么？

· There's no food in the fridge.
冰箱里没有吃的了。

当Food指“某种食物”：

· The Italian food's pretty good here.
这的意大利菜不错。

如何区分Food和Cuisine：

A. 指”一种菜“两个词都可以用：
很多时候cuisine都可以被替换为food.

例一：“川菜里有很多辣椒。”
可以说：Sichuan food uses a lot of chilli peppers.
也可以：Sichuan cusine ueses a lot of chilli peppers.

例二：“你今晚想试试本地菜吗？”
可以说：Do you wanna try the local cuisine tonight?
也可以：Do you wanna try the local food tonight?

B. 只能用food不能用cuisine的情况：

① Food单纯指食物。

· I'm hungry. Let's get some food.
我饿了，我们弄点东西吃吧。

· Are we getting food before the movie?
看电影前我们去吃东西吗？

② 因为口语化，用food更好。

· I'm in the mood for some Dongbei food tonight.
我今晚想吃点东北菜。

C. 只能用cuisine不能用food：

① Cuisine指一类菜，无法替换。

· This cuisine is known for its sweet and spicy³ balance.
这个菜系以甜辣平衡知名。

② 正式语境，用cuisine更符合。

· This award-winning restaurant features seasonal⁴ cuisine made with the finest ingredients.
这个获奖餐厅的特色是以最优质原材料烹饪的季节性菜式。

3、Dish 一道菜

· How many dishes did we order?
我们点了几道菜？

· What's in this dish? It's delicious.
这道菜里有什么？好好吃。

不要搞混dish和cuisine：

比如我们曾经出过这么一道题：
“我家乡最出名的菜是烤鸭。”

有同学写成：
The most famous cuisine in my hometown is roast duck.

正确答案应该是：
The most famous dish/food in my hometown is roast duck.

1 cuisine   

n.烹调，烹饪法

2 seafood   

n.海产食品，海味，海鲜

参考例句：

• There's an excellent seafood restaurant near here.离这儿不远有家非常不错的海鲜馆。
• Shrimps are a popular type of seafood.小虾是比较普遍的一种海味。

3 spicy   

adj.加香料的；辛辣的，有风味的

参考例句：

• The soup tasted mildly spicy.汤尝起来略有点辣。
• Very spicy food doesn't suit her stomach.太辣的东西她吃了胃不舒服。

4 seasonal   

adj.季节的，季节性的

参考例句：

• The town relies on the seasonal tourist industry for jobs.这个城镇依靠季节性旅游业提供就业机会。
• The hors d'oeuvre is seasonal vegetables.餐前小吃是应时蔬菜。
