Becky: It's cute. It's like a little clue. So he can't write. Big deal.Verbal ability is a highly over-rated thing in a guyand our pathetic need for it is what gets us into so much trouble.

妙语佳句，活学活用

1. That was nothing compared to...

“没有什么比……更……”，这可是个经典句型。“没什么比这更丢人的了！”就可以说成是That was nothing compared to this humiliation.

2. It's a sign.

Superstition⁴

Superstition, a belief or practice generally regarded as irrational⁵ and as resulting from ignorance or from fear of the unknown. 在老外眼力里，也有一些属于迷信性质的传统。

比如：
1. Some tragedy will befall a person who walks under a ladder.
如果谁要是从梯子底下走过去的话，那么厄运就要来了。

2. Thirteen is a kind a unlucky number.
十三一定是个不吉祥的数字。所以好多场合，老外都会避免13的出现。比如楼层没有13号。

3. Breaking a mirror indicates seven years' bad luck.
如果不小心打破了一个镜子的话，就会预示着7年的坏运气了。
