Britain and Europe have reached a draft Brexit agreement overnight, in what is being described as a key breakthrough in the talks. British ministers are being briefed at Downing Street, and a special cabinet meeting will be held later to consider the draft text and to decide the next step of the process. The future of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland has been one of the major sticking points in the negotiations¹.

Prime minister Scott Morrison will meet with Indonesia's president this morning in Singapore as tensions continue over Australia's position on Israel. The federal government was hoping to sign a free trade agreement with Indonesia on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit. But that plan has been derailed following Mr Morrison's comments that Australia would consider moving its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Mr Morrison will meet with Joko Widodo and leaders of China and India during the two days of talks.
