Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told the group of clerics he is seeking wartime executive powers. He says he's dealing¹ with an economic war that the US triggered when it left the Iran nuclear deal.

House Democrats² say they may vote to hold former White House Counsel Don McGahn in contempt. A lawyer says Mcgahn will follow President Trump³'s orders, and ignore a subpoena⁴ to testify before a committee on Tuesday.

President Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania, ahead of a special congressional election. It was his first visit to the electoral battleground state this year.

Numerous funnel⁵ clouds were spotted⁶ as an intense storm system moved across the southern plains. The storms did not produce the dangerous tornadoes⁷ that had forecasters worried.
