President Trump¹ is set to introduce a new immigration reform proposal on Thursday. It would focus on border security and shift more green cards to people with high-level skills and job offers.

Alabama's governor has signed a near-total ban on abortion² into law. The ban is set to go into effect in six months, although it's expected to face legal challenges.

A police officer and a firefighter were both shot and injured in Appleton, Wisconsin. Police say several more people were taken into a hospital. There was no immediate³ word on suspects.

And federal investigators⁴ recovered the wreckage⁵ of the larger of the 2 planes that collided off Alaska's coast. Officials say recovering the second smaller plane will take longer. Because debris⁶ is spread over a wide area.
