　　None of Admiral Byrd's important work in Little America was done between late March and the middle of October, 1929. 伯德上将在小亚美利加的重要工作没有一项是在1929年3月下旬至10月中旬之间完成的。

　　This does not, of course, mean either that the sun vanished¹ for all that period of time or that work stopped completely². 当然，这并不意味着在这段时间里太阳完全消失不见，就将工作完全处于停滞状态。

　　As a matter of fact, the sun was still a daily visitor in April, and it again became a daily visitor in late August. 实际上，整个4月份，以及8月底，太阳还是每天都会出现的。
