On Wednesday, giant screen exhibitor Imax reported a second-quarter loss of $1.7 million, with overall revenues at $87.8 million.

According to reports, the loss is attributed to a weaker Hollywood box office this year with Disney’s 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' and Warner Bros.' King Arthur: Legend of the Sword' underachieving at the box office.

In a statement, CEO Richard Gelfond said Wednesday, "While we still view that market as a growth driver long-term, a number of titles didn't resonate with filmgoers."
