 When the aspects of daily life are clearly improved here, education, health care, economy, legal rights, but the environment has taken some new hammering. The small environmental group was started by You Jianfeng with 10,000 pounds of his own money. He reveres¹ the Yangtze and says his activism is inspired by the China’s traditional religious beliefs.

In Chinese traditional culture, Daoism is the philosophy that more focuses on environment. Daoism’s idea is that nature and human beings have to be in harmony. But the people like us or activists² are also encouraged by Confucianism, the Confucian idea that every individual is responsible for the state of the world and therefore must get involved in society. It’s a little bit revolting, isn’t it?  As disgusting. This is the domestic³ sewage and industrial waste water mixed. Is this flowing into the Yangtze? That’s for sure. This whole area is the part of Yangtze river valley. Is this the price of China’s economic boom⁴? This is because there isn’t enough support of infrastructure⁵ to match the cities rapid development. Residential⁶ areas are expanding, but sewage system isn’t keeping up.
